Yahoo to double Olympics presence in London
By RYAN NAKASHIMA | Associated Press – LOS ANGELES (AP) — Yahoo plans to double its Olympics presence this summer as it aims to be the Games’ top website for the fourth straight year. Yahoo is sending 25 people from around the world to cover the Summer Games in London — about “twice as big” as it had in the Winter Games — including U.S. gold medal winners Shannon Miller and Dan O’Brien and many of its sports columnists and reporters.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) The San Antonio Spurs’ stars made sure Kobe Bryant’s return wasn’t a triumphant one. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili all scored at least 20 points to help San Antonio beat the Los Angeles Lakers 121-97 on Friday night and remain atop the Western Conference. Bryant, who had missed the previous seven games with a bruised left shin, scored 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting.
Report: Howard doing well after back surgery (Yahoo! Sports)
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) The Orlando Sentinel is reporting Magic center Dwight Howard underwent successful arthroscopic surgery Friday on a herniated disk in his lower back. Howard is done for the season and will miss the summer Olympics, but team doctor Craig Mintzer said the All-Star was doing well and is expected to make a complete recovery in about four months.

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Nigerian-born Akim Aliu scored his first two NHL goals Saturday to lead the Calgary Flames to a season-ending 5-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. The performance by the 22-year-old prospect, playing just his second NHL game, provided a positive finish to another disappointing season for Calgary. By winning their final two games, the Flames reached the 90-point mark for the eighth season in a row.
